Hell is losing your job six months short of 30 years, with no parachute, no shiny new gold watch and not so much as a "thank you" as you walk out the door. It's payments you can't make on a house you can't sell, as your kids watch their parents split apart.

You don't have to die to go to hell.

The Revs. Brian and Laura Rossbert sometimes show up on the 5 p.m. news.
It’s not because they are controversial or in any trouble; it is because social justice issues are basic to their faith and they don’t just sit on the sidelines. It’s not unusual to see either of them at a city council meeting or an organized protest.

While I like Bonhoeffer's own books better, this video is a touching summary of Bonhoeffer's struggles as told in the (great) biography by Eric Metaxas. Bonhoeffer's life makes me ask tough questions about my own. Some may debate his actions. Some may call him a hero. To me, he is a pillar - inspiring me with unimaginable strength and unwavering faith.
Got the weekend free? Here's an idea for turning those spare hours into someone's prayer.
THIS WEEKEND:
Use a couple hours to support everyday life by providing basic necessities to disaster victims who need essential supplies to help recover.

It just does not matter to me if the dogma of a church survives. What matters to me, is whether or not the church matures to serve my personal spiritual needs for personal spiritual awakening. I'm not seeking salvation according to any dogmatic interpretation of scripture, I'm seeking instead trustworthy guidance towards spiritual experiences that enable me to find and know truth and reality for my own personal experience. I am the master of my own ship.
Global Warming, World Peace, Agenda 21 New World Order, & USIP
The thrust of nearly all national government planning today is a rush towards (NWO) New Word Order under the guidelines of Agenda 21. Perhaps we should ponder the role of churches in tomorrow's world.

Oak Forest United Methodist Church has converted its basement into a vision clinic for those who cannot afford vision care.
The neighborhood surrounding Fair Park Boulevard in Little Rock, Ark., is as hard as the stone walls of Oak Forest United Methodist Church. “You hear bullets sometimes,” says the church’s pastor, the Rev. Russ Breshears. But the “little stone church with the big heart” is proving small congregations anywhere can make a huge impact.
